I’m not sure which one is Doofus and which one is Pinky. But given the way they acted, I think they both have a bit of doofus in them.
Two more pictures after the break.

Stab in the dark. The stumpy tail and floppy ears said ‘Aussie’ to me, except I found out that Rottweilers sometimes have natural bob-tails. (I thought they were always cut off.) And her face is a bit Rottie-like. And the saddle pattern is all shepherd. I expect Autumn will weigh in on this one too.
Ran into this gal waiting for her dad outside of a restaurant. She looked so forlorn that I had to go say hello.
Three more pictures, one with a bonus Chihuahua, after the break.
Moll is, at least according to her guardian, definitely half-shepherd. And it’s pretty obvious in any case. The Finnish spitz half was a guess on my part. We’ll see what Autumn thinks in the comments.
Two more pictures after the break.
I have a huge headache, and I just spent half an hour editing a series of pictures of an awesome great Dane, and discovering, one picture at a time, that not a single one of them was even up to my relatively low standards. So… have a picture of a random unidentified puppy chewing on my finger.
Our second Akita Inu (or American Akita in this case, if you prefer). What a gorgeous breed! And such soft fur. This one had a patch of fur shaved near the tail, probably for some medical reason, but other than that was very lushly furred.
Two more pictures after the break.
Another first for this blog: an Ibizan hound. In appearance, at least, these guys are said to look like the dogs in ancient Egyptian friezes, and I can certainly see the resemblance.
Another picture, after the break. I took thirty pictures of Rue. Two of them turned out okayish. Bah.
[Edit: Turns out it’s ‘Rue’, and not ‘Roo’. Who knew?]
Firstly, personal business: sorry for the hiatus. I was on vacation, and getting back to my hotel room exhausted at 11 PM. Admittedly, I was then failing to fall asleep until 2 AM, but those weren’t three hours where I especially felt like playing with the computer, or indeed doing anything but try to fall asleep. Despite the difficulty falling asleep (which was partially just jetlag) I feel very rested after my little break, and ready to get back to real life again. Which includes this blog. Hooray for vacations!
Secondly, site business: I realize that there are probably quite a few people waiting for their dogs to be posted here. I’m sorry, I’ve got way more of a backlog now than I did a few months ago, literally months of dogs to post. If you are impatient to see your pup up here, drop me a note in the comments of one of the other dogs (I read every single one) and let me know who your dog is and I’ll see what I can do. (At the very least, I’ll respond in the comments, so check back.)
And finally, thirdly, today’s pup. Who looks so much like a husky that you may be thinking that I’m nuts. But I am assured by Kato’s owner that she is a klee kai/shiba inu mix, and whatever she is, she isn’t a husky. How could I tell? Well… this picture doesn’t provide a terribly good idea of the scale.
For that, you’ll have to check out the additional four pictures below the fold.
I have lots of pictures better than this queued up, but I’m exhausted and this is a onesie, so I’m going to post it. Plus, we haven’t had an American toy terrier here before, and that’s what Autumn says he or she is.
Hah! Dogs of San Francisco, coming to you from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We made it to our hotel, if barely. An interesting trip so far, that started with Autumn nearly missing our flight (she got there with almost 15 minutes before they closed the doors, so maybe ‘almost’ is an exaggeration) and ended up with us bringing the hotel night clerk a paper cup with a bedbug in it and asking politely if we could have a different room, that we didn’t have to share with quite so many other… beings.
But hey, at least it has WiFi, right?
Anyway, this is Jake. Jake is almost certainly in San Francisco right now, even if we aren’t. And Jake is a ridiculously awesome dog, being half from a breed that rescues mountain climbers from certain death, and half from a breed that rescues zillions of peoples’ sanity every day.
Three more awesome pictures, after the awesome break.
[Okay, this is strange. I had this set up to post last night, and it just… didn’t. Don’t know what the deal was. But since I’m adding text anyway: posting may be erratic for the next few days. I am going on vacation. I was going to queue up the posts for the days I’d be gone, but I’ve also been sick, so I spent that time sleeping instead. If there’s WiFi on the plane I’ll do some posts there, otherwise I may or may not get to them. Sorry ’bout that.]
Anyway, on to today’s dog. I am pretty convinced that Dilla is half boxer, but I can’t place the other half. Maybe something light and fairly big, with a long pointy muzzle… greyhound, borzoi (probably not: wrong fur), or saluki (probably not: wrong ears). I know there are other similar dogs, but I can’t think of any off the top of my head.
Also: neat collar. You can see it in some of the pictures: it has ‘Dilla’ embroidered onto it.
Five more pictures, after the break.
