I was out in Indiana for Christmas, which was less snowy than I had reason to expect. But that meant I could take a couple of walks and take some pictures. And one of the things that I took pictures of was this ‘lovely horse‘.

I don’t really know what that coloration is… palomino? Champagne? Something like that, anyway. Sure is pretty. Anyone know what the marking on her side might be?

Caturday Supplement: Tuxedo Kitten and Black Kitten

Two kitties for this lovely caturday, one tuxedo kitten and one that was pure black, and both adorable.

I say ‘lovely’ even though it was raining much of the day and grey for the rest of it, because I was feeling quite a bit better yesterday, and even better today. I hope this means that I’m improving quickly, though it could just be a hiatus. Still, it’s very encouraging, and makes me nearly cheerful.

It helps that we really really really need the rain. I can keep telling myself that when I look outside and it’s spraying down.

Dog of the Day: Huskorgi

This gorgeous huskorgi (husky/corgi mix) was so excited to go to the beach that he could not contain himself, so he’d dance up to passers-by and bark and wiggle and just generally show off. So adorable. He just thought this was the greatest thing in the history of all greatest things that could ever happen. I want to feel like that just once in my life, but I suspect that it may not be possible without really, really good drugs.

Dog of the Day: Coco the German Shepherd Puppy

Coco is another one of those dogs that I ran into right outside work, and I was like, ‘okay, well, here is a dog who is going to make me late to work, and work is just going to have to deal with that, because Coco is too awesome to miss.’ She was, at time of this photo, a 6-month-old German shepherd, so for those of you keeping count, that’s two German shepherd puppies in a period of five days.

And for those of you who are not keeping count, darn it, why aren’t you keeping count?

Also… well. The hovertext went in a direction rather different, and rather darker, than I’d expected.

Dog of the Day: Shiba Inu

Shiba inu shiba inu shiba inu shiba inu! It has a nice rhythm to it, doesn’t it? Well, I guess it does come from one of those ‘musical languages’. As opposed to, say, English, which, while it does have its good points, isn’t exactly considered among the most lovely in the world.

Work went all right today. The slow normalization of my life continues, hopefully the normalization of my health will continue as well.

Dog of the Day: Bear the Eurasier

We’ve seen Bear the Eurasier once before, here, but that was quite late at night. Those pictures might actually be a bit better, though, it’s hard to say one way or the other, given the shadows going on. Still, it’s clear Bear’s a gorgeous pup either way.

I hear the breed is getting more popular. I can see why… so fluffy, so soft, so pretty, quite smart, and their life expectancy is apparently 12 to 14 years, so very healthy as well.

No idea what kind of flower this is. I just know it’s pretty.

Edit: according to my expert consultants, this is “Freesia laxa, better known in gardens as Anomatheca laxa . A variant is white with red spots. It is a pretty weed from South Africa.”

Dog of Adam’s Triumphant Return: Bella the German Shepherd Puppy

So… I’m back! And if not in fighting trim, at least in one piece, for the most part. To celebrate my triumphant return, and (mostly) to apologize for my prolonged absence, I present to you Bella the 4-month-old German shepherd puppy. (I prefer to think that she was named after this Bella.)

My health isn’t great, but it’s better than it was, and honestly it shouldn’t have been keeping me from posting to the blog. I’ve just been kind of depressed and annoyed with the world, and then when I finally got up the initiative to post something, that exact day, the blog went kaboom because I hadn’t been keeping my eye on my SSL certificates and they expired (for my non-technical readers, that means ‘my blog went sproing and pieces flew out in all directions’) and I had to fix that and then I was even more annoyed and…

Anyway, I am hopefully on the mend now. Yesterday I felt the best I’ve felt in a while. Much of today has kind of sucked, but tomorrow’s another day. And I’m in a cafe with a really quite tasty chocolate tart and some tea and, if I am feeling not so great, at least I have been able to sleep reasonably well for the last week, and presumably things will continue to get better. And just a few minutes ago I met the most adorable Bernese mountain dog puppy who licked my face and my right ear and maybe things are okay after all. (No pictures, unfortunately… it was way too dark. Hopefully I’ll get lucky again soon though.)

Caturday Supplement: Cat-Sat Tiger Tabby Kitty

I can’t remember the name of this kitty but she’s a client of Autumn’s (along with her brother, a dog), and is the biggest sweetheart ever to purr. I went over to visit her and the pup, to take my mind off my trials and tribulations. While I was there and petting her I thought I felt a tick, so I told Autumn, “I’ll hold her down, you get the tick.” Well, the tick turned out to be a scab that had almost completely fallen off, but she didn’t even mind that I held her down… she just hung out there, looking up at me every once in a while like, “Hey, let me know when you’re about done, okay?” When I let her up, she just lay there. “Eh, no problem, I hadn’t planned to go anywhere anyway.”

I’m feeling pretty good today, better than yesterday after a few days of getting worse. I don’t know if this is going to be a steady improvement kind of situation — it sure as hell wasn’t three weeks ago — but I have my fingers crossed. Hopefully you’ll be seeing a bit more of me.
