Dog of the Day: English Cream Golden Retriever Puppy

I’ve been a bad, bad blogger. It was a long weekend, spent trying to set up two separate computers and work around problems with a third. One of them will be the new home to the blog (and a dozen other web sites, and my email server, and other stuff besides) though so that’s good. Unfortunately, still a bunch more work to do before it’s ready.

In the mean time, have a cute golden retriever puppy. I didn’t catch his name, I was too busy squealing and hugging him.

Dog of the Day: French Bulldog in a Baby Carriage

I didn’t take notes, but I think this pups story is that he’s kind of old and doesn’t have a lot of energy, and so if mom walks him (a couple miles) to the dog park, all he wants to do when he gets there is rest. So she pushes him instead, and then he gets in some happy playtime with all his friends.

Makes sense to me!

Bulldogs only have two expressions: delighted or disgruntled.

Dog of the Day: Eurasier

Lovely. And calm enough that I actually got a couple of pictures at night that weren’t too blurry to post.

This one was on Polk Street too. I swear, if you sat on a street corner on Polk with sandals on for long enough, one of every dog breed in the world would lick your toes.

Hmm. Sounds like a project for my retirement!

Dog of the Day: A Golden Passenger

Saw this pup going by, and I thought, damn, not going to have time to get out the good camera. Nabbed a shot with my iPhone, and then saw that there was a traffic hold-up a couple blocks up, so I ran a block along the street until the car got caught in the traffic and then dug out my better camera and got a couple good shots.

I am a slave to my art. Pity me!

Or, y’know, don’t. 🙂

Polk Street is such a great place for dog-watching.

The pup saw me running after the car and taking pictures, and the thought process was obvious: ‘Oh look! That guy likes me, and he likes chasing cars, and I like chasing cars too! Yay! Hi! Will you be my friend?’ She smiled at me until the car drove away. SO. CUTE.

Double Dog Day: Loki and Harley the Siberian Huskies

Ran into these two one morning on my way to work. Dad was in a little restaurant grabbing something to eat, and they were shamelessly accosting passers-by and soliciting cuddles. I, of course, was completely unable to resist.

Harley has a very piercing stare, but Loki has got the greatest ‘hi there!’ expression I’ve seen in quite a while.

Loki (6, male) is SUCH a ham. The expression is hard to see because of the tire behind him, but look close.

Harley (8, female) has got the pinkest nose-stripe I’ve ever seen. And she’s also a total sweetie.

When I walked away from these two, Harley started staring fixedly at me, but Loki started howling. Mournfully. It worked perfectly: I felt like a total heel for not just parking myself there for the next hour and petting them.

Dog of the Day: Yuki the Siberian Husky Puppy

Yuki was ten weeks old when I ran into her. And when I say ‘ran’, I mean that I had to run across a street full of cars and halfway down the block to catch up with her. But she was worth it. So worth it.

Ran into her while I was visiting New Jersey this past May, so she’s an honorary dog of San Francisco.

Sunday Switchup: Blorp!

I haven’t posted a sea-blorp in some time. This one was basking in the summer sun.

Caturday Supplement: Cat-inna-Jacket

No, he’s not wearing the jacket. Closer to the reverse, really.

Dog of the Day: Daisy the English Sheepdog Puppy

It’s been an interesting week, but I may be back from the dead.

This is Daisy. I just ran into her again today, and wanted to get her post up since she’s already a year old, but was only 5 months old in these pictures. Most of her pictures came out pretty rough. Ah well.

That is a sock. It appears that Daisy is a very big fan of socks.

Daisy’s black patches are quite dark here, but they have faded to a fairly light grey since these pictures were taken.

Site News: Slow Week

I’m sorry for the slow week… this is the first time in a LONG time that I have two days with no pictures. It’s because I’m currently working on setting up the server that I’m going to be  moving the blog over to, after work. Yesterday was a grueling 4 hour session including over an hour and a half taking apart and putting together a Mac mini, and then software installations. Today, because Autumn had a dog walk scheduled for 7 PM that I had to take care of, I didn’t even get home until 8:30, and I have a lot more to do. And while I’m doing this, my new machine is taking the place of my old one, and I can’t get to my old one… which is where all my pictures are.

But it’s going. If things go well, I’ll be able to finish this part of the setup process and get some more posts going tomorrow, and get my new server sent off to its new home sometime next week. And it is FAST! In fact, it’s tremendous overkill for just my blog, but I’ll find other uses for it, I’m sure.

In the mean time, let me point out to you a kind of neat infographic that a very, very persistent gentleman has pointed out to me repeatedly. But I won’t hold that against him, because as I say, it’s kind of neat. It’s a comparison of San Francisco and Seattle, in terms of dog-friendliness.

But if you need a pet-sitter (or dog-walker!) in San Francisco, remember, there’s only one place to go.
