A teddy bear for you today.
Sorry if I’ve been a little lax. I’m trying to get some important stuff done in the evenings, and that in combination with some sleep issues has been really cutting into my blogging time. Hopefully both the important stuff and the sleep issues won’t last too much longer.
Wherever Pomerania is, I want to visit it someday. I like to imagine that the people there are just as happy as the dogs.
The Australian side is confirmed, but the Yorkie side looks pretty certain to me too.

Happy St. Paddy’s Day! I found Tigger (that’s T-I-Double-Guh ERRR!) the Irish setter last month while adventuring in Bernal Heights. He’s eleven, so he’s maybe a bit less apt to pounce on people, but he’s still sproinging around happily.
Mom and pup. I have to say, that color is just gorgeous.
Amazing how much they look like golden retrievers, given that the two aren’t related, and they are almost certainly, as a type, quite a bit older than goldens.
They’ve got the golden retriever grin down pat too. No pun intended!
I was wandering through the Castro on Saturday, and I happened to stick my head into a Pet Food Express where they were having an adoption event. They had a whole bunch of adorable kitties available for adoption, so I got to do a little stocking up on caturday fare. But they also had this fine specimen of a bunny, so I figured I ought to do a bunday supplement this week.
Unfortunately the cases were ridiculously reflective, so I could only get pictures by pressing my phone right up against the glass. Fortunately, this guy’s head JUST fit in the frame.
Some more pictures from the Oakland Zoo. We wandered around the otter enclosure for a while, and all the otters were underwater and refusing to come out. And then when we got to the last part of the enclosure, all of a sudden five otters burst from the water, ran across the middle of the enclosure, ran right up to us, and started chittering and chirping at us. And then they turned around and ran away. Unfortunately it took me a while to get my camera set up, so I only got pictures of a couple of them, but it was pretty amazingly cute.
Those tails are amazing. So huge.
Look at the little hands. I would totally shake hands with an otter. Yeah, yeah, claws, I know. I’d risk it.
That’s what his dad said, complete with the ‘et cetera’.
SO. FLUFFY.
Happy is well-named. And, I’ll add, ‘Friendly’ might well be his middle name.
Can’t decide which tickles me more, his expression or that tail.
We’ve only seen one English shepherd here before. I know it’s scanty evidence to go on, but I am willing to make a provisional statement that it is an awesome breed.
I just love the way she is so happy to have a ball that her tongue is lolling out around it.
That’s a happy dog right there.
Uh… it’s okay, Trooper. Everything is going to be all right.
And speaking of things being all right: we found the owners of yesterday’s dog, and returned him safe and sound this morning. Happy ending!
I am not sure where Trooper acquired the expression, but I’m not sure ‘Tripper’ wouldn’t be a more appropriate name.

I didn’t exactly expect to be spending my evening this way, but if you run a dog blog and/or a dog-walking and pet-sitting business, you have to be prepared to handle doggie distress calls at any time. Autumn and I were wandering around on Russian Hill (in a quest for ice cream) and found a woman with a dog on a leash… not exactly a rarity in Russian Hill. But we quickly discovered that it wasn’t her dog, that she’d just found him wandering around (on Larkin near Green) and that she didn’t know what to do. So we took over.
We brought the dog in to see if he was microchipped. The good news: he was, indeed, microchipped. The bad news: the microchip wasn’t registered, so they don’t know whose dog it was. Tomorrow they’re going to see if they can track down what vet implanted it, and maybe the vet will have records. We’ve also reported him to Animal Care and Control, and will probably put up a few signs tomorrow as well. And we’re keeping an eye on Craig’s List.
He’s a real sweetheart, although he seems to be compelled to pee on ALL THE THINGS.
Autumn walked him around a bit to see if he’d find his own way home. He found a building he liked and snuck in on someone else’s heels. (BTW: those toenails? Autumn’s. Colored like the Irish flag.)
He immediately ran up to a door. And when Autumn knocked on it and someone answered, he ran right inside.
And of course the people had never seen him before, and it was a ‘no pets’ building.
No, that’s not a misprint: Kate is a 12-year-old Australian kelpie that came from Australia. How come so many adorable breeds are from Australia, anyway?
She’s pretty good-sized for a girl kelpie.
