I saw these two and, even in the (very light) rain, just HAD to get some pictures. They make such a great pair.

He reminds me a lot of Jake, but I think his face is too pointy to be half St. Bernard.

I believe I have related the saga of Laundrydog, the store dog of a local laundromat, on this blog before. What I have not mentioned before is that Laundrydog, aka Zachary, passed away earlier this year, at age 12. We heard about it third-hand, and were devastated: we’d known him for four years, and he was one of our favorite neighborhood friends. Even if we didn’t have time to visit with him, on the nights he was there he would always wave a paw to us as we walked by, and how awesome is that? Alas, poor Zachary, you will be missed sorely.
Well, I’ve been doing a fair bit of walking recently… sometimes it’s more comfortable than sitting or lying down, and anyway I desperately need the exercise. (By the way: surgery is scheduled for February 10th. Not looking forward to this, but if it gets rid of my problems…) Not long ago I was out walking the neighborhood, at around 10 at night, and what should I see through the window of our favorite laundromat but… a golden retriever puppy? Cody will never replace Zachary in our hearts, but I think he has a fair chance at becoming a worthy successor, don’t you?
We haven’t had any dorgis on here in quite some time. A tragedy! I must rectify this situation with dispatch. Fortunately, I have recently come upon a dorgi greatly deserving of postage. Oscar is a year and a half old, and fully ready, willing, and able to charm you out of all of your treats, and probably most of lunch as well.
Oh god the ears. Also, am I wrong, or is that coloration called something like ‘sable’ and due to the ‘agouti gene’? There is so much information online about dog colorations and genetics and none of it AGREES.
I didn’t get this guys name… I was too busy being bowled over by cute.
How have I never seen a dog of this mix before? How have I never even thought of a dog of this mix before? What an awesome pairing! And Franklin (7 months… still a puppy!) is every bit as awesome as his progenitors would suggest.
He’s developing quite a nice human-style smile. Some dogs do that… they see humans doing it and start showing their teeth when they like you.
Another one who was really hard to take pictures of. Because he really wanted me to be petting him instead.
I can just tell that this guy has a great sense of humor. As long as the rest of the family does too, they’re going to get along great.
I am not sure how this kind of thing happens, but yesterday, the day after I posted a couple of adorable pictures of a scruffy little mixed-breed puplet named Zoey, I ran into a dog that looked almost just like her sort of! And he’s even the same breed mix, minus the dachshund. So cute!
He was being uncharacteristically shy that day… wouldn’t let me near him. He’s apparently normally fairly outgoing.
It was pretty cold outside when I took this. (Well, cold for San Francisco… in the 40s!) But it was nice and warm in there, and the kittens were sleeping adorably. And glowing!
When I took these pictures, Lucci was 8 months old… but that was a couple years ago, so she’s all growed up now.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Bodhi. When I took this picture in 2012 (and at least as late as last April) Bodhi was the mascot for OMpower, a yoga/fitness place down in South Beach, not far from where I work (and may still be, though I haven’t seen her in a while). Bodhi is named after a concept in Buddhism, and I have to say, she does seem to have a great intuitive grasp of the essentials.
