We ran into this guy keeping watch over his dad’s truck while he was gone. Fortunately, we persuaded him to take a few moments off to say hello.

That’s Autumn’s hand. And he is gazing raptly into her eyes.

Dog of the Day: Bike-Guarding Chihuahua Mix

This pup took his job seriously. He didn’t bite, but he growled until that guy stepped back.

Hey everyone! I have a twitter feed now! Follow me, @dogsofsf, for occasional updates with pictures of dogs that I run into that I don’t have time to do a full photo-shoot for, just quick snaps on my iPhone. Also pictures of random city stuff that I run across.

It’s an interesting idea, one way of keeping someone from snaffling your bike.

He does look like he takes his job seriously, but I can’t help but thing a slightly bigger dog might be a better deterrent.

Dog of the Day: Tosca the Shoe-Shopping Vizsla

Sweet little vizsla, shoe-shopping with dad! (Store is Lombardi Sports, a great little local sporting goods shop.)

She’s a little petite for a vizsla… or, as I like to put it, ‘apartment-sized’.

The bin that says ‘dirty’ is full of used loaner socks, for people trying on shoes. It got a little attention from Tosca, though I didn’t manage to get any shots of that.

I don’t honestly recall what this was, whether it was a trick or not, but it seems quite appropriate for a shoe store.

Dog of the Day: Declan the Irish Setter Again

Okay, I was just going to add these pictures to the original post I made of Declan, but they’re so gorgeous that I think they deserve their own post.

This is Declan in Levi Plaza, or thereabouts, with Telegraph Hill in the background. I used to jog up one side of that hill and down the other all the time.

And I think that’s the west part of the Presidio. Gorgeous! (Edit: according to the comments below, this is on the Land’s End Coastal Trail, which is southwest of the Presidio.)

Dog of the Day: Macy’s Window Puppy

Ohhh awww! Macy’s doesn’t just do Christmas kittens… they do puppies too. They’re all pretty cute, but this guy was ridiculous.

Probably a border collie mix, but I don’t know what he’d be mixed with.

I don’t know what’s the cutest: nose-speckles, the puppydog eyes, the white blaze, the TOES…

Dog of the Day: Phoenix Chihuahua

I visited my brother briefly between Christmas and New Year’s. He lives in the Phoenix, Arizona area, in Tempe. He has a good-sized house, and rents part of it out, and one of the people who lives in that part has a dog. I can’t for the life of me remember his name, but he’s quite a friendly little beast.

But, well, not the prettiest: apparently he had sarcoptic mites until quite recently (he’s 2), when they more commonly go away of their own accord before a dog turns 1. Consequently, he’s just growing in his first real coat. Well, I’m glad it’s all working out for him, however belatedly.
