Caturday Supplement: Catwalk (Jupiter the 4-year-old cat)

My brother and I were out walking in San Francisco yesterday. It was misting out, everything was a little damp, but that didn’t stop one gentleman from taking his cat out on a nice little walk. Seems oddly appropriate, for a couple of different reasons, in the Castro.

The cat even seemed fairly into it, although I think he’d have been a lot happier if it wasn’t all wet outside.

Cat on a Leash

I like the owner already: he takes his black cat out for walks so that he crosses *everyone's* path.

Cat on a Leash

He was a bit leery of both me and my brother.

Cat on a Leash

He had a lovely meow, and wasn't shy about using it.

Dog of the Day: Basset Hound

Haven’t had one of these fellows in a while, and this one is a splendid example of the breed.

Basset Hound

Bassets have the most ridiculous ears ever.

Basset Hound

'Basset' means 'kind of squat' in French. I love that. 'The Squathound'.

Dog of the Day: Dana the German Shepherd/Doberman Pinscher (?) Mix

Not sure about the breed mix, and neither was her dad. Funny thing: she looks like a gigantic Australian kelpie.

German Shepherd Mix

Perfect little dog paw-prints on the concrete.

German Shepherd Mix

A good candidate for the 'dogs with one ear up' list.

German Shepherd Mix

Teensy tinsy eyebrows!

German Shepherd Mix

I dunno, maybe he's not a German shepherd mix. He doesn't have that big goofy German shepherd grin.

Dog of the Day: Bear the Optimistic Labrador Retriever

Bear lives up to his name: he’s huge-normous!

Labrador Retriever

One 90-pound Labrador retriever. And no, not much fat on him, either.

Labrador Retriever

Bear also likes bear hugs.

Dog of the Day: Ceili!

On the road today and tomorrow, so here is a picture of Ceili, Autumn’s family dog, taken with a Christmas gift, a fisheye lens for the iPhone.

Dog of Christmas Day: Heterochromic Australian Shepherd

For your Christmas enjoyment. I didn’t have any dogs with wreaths but I found you a really pretty pooch. It’s hard to see except in one slightly blurry picture, but she doesn’t just have two different colored eyes: her right eye is half blue and half brown.

Heterochromic Australian Shepherd

Happy face!

Heterochromatic Australian Shepherd

Gorgeous profile, too. Wish I'd gotten some of the other side with the brown eye.

Australian Shepherd With One Eye That's Half-Blue and Half-Brown

There, you can see that the right eye is half blue and half brown.

Heterochromic Australian Shepherd

Prettiest coloration ever.

Caturday Supplement: Macy’s Kitty

Macy’s kitty for your Christmas Even enjoyment!

Kittens!

This window contained three utter hams. This is two thirds of them.

Kittens

Oops, there's number three.

Kitten

Okay, that? That's just ridiculous.

Kitties

If that cat hasn't been adopted yet, there's something wrong with the universe.

Triple Dog Day: Walker, Munsen, and Bruno the Bulldogs

I haven’t posted a triple dog day in forever! Walker (6 months old, in brown), Munsen (11 months, in tan), and Bruno (2 years, in white) are all good friends, although Bruno is a visitor. The three of them were chilling outside of The Bell Tower on Polk Street, source of many good pictures (such as these.)

Walker and Munsen have their own Facebook page.

Bulldogs

Most people keep the dogs *under* the tables.

Bulldogs

Bruno knows how to give a high-five even remotely.

Bulldog

Hi-five close-up!

Bulldogs

Bulldogs do tend to be patient, but watching these three just happily perch in chairs for the duration of the meal was awesome.

Bulldogs

If there's a dog breed that's better at looking ridiculously sad than the bulldog, it's not by much.

Dog of the Day: Grommet the English Setter

Poor Gromit. He seemed so bewildered by our strange San Francisco ways!

English Setter

Skinny, gangly, angular.

English Setter

Expressive face. Goofy expressions, too.

English Setter

Good, clean teeth, but he could use some braces.

Double Dog Day: Siberian Husky and Pug

Another husky-and-friend set. I’ll leave you to decide which one is the main character and which is the humorous sidekick.

Siberian Husky and Pug

That ball just barely fit in the pug's mouth.

Pug

A dog's worst conundrum... wants to lick you, but doesn't want to let go of the ball.

Pug

Pug looking both ways!

Siberian Husky

Hey, watch where you're pointing that thing.
