Triple Dog Day: Standard Poodle, Scottie, and Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier

These three (plus a couple others) were all playing nicely together in a local dog park.

Edit: Autumn and Anne (in the comments) both agree: third dog is a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. I can never remember what those look like, although I do like calling them ‘Wil Wheaten Terriers’.

Scottish Terrier, Standard Poodle, and Unidentified Fluffy Dog

Unshaved poodles are wild. But the Beatles haircut dog takes the cake.

Scottish Terrier, Standard Poodle, and Unidentified Fluffy Dog

The thing directly behind the poodle is… an extra bonus Scottie!

Plenty of hugs to go around.

Double Dog Day: Luca the Golden Retriever and Bruno the Rottweiller

Bruno and Luca are friends, most of the time. Except when it comes to… tennis balls.

Golden Retriever and Rottweiler

Shortly before I started taking pictures, Luca had the ball. This is apparently a rare occurrence.

Golden Retriever and Rottweiler

It must be tough to live with another dog that's just as ball-focused as you are...

Golden Retriever and Rottweiler

...who is just a bit taller and stronger than you. Hmm, actually sounds like most pairs of brothers I know.

Golden Retriever

It's not often that I see a golden looking disgruntled.

Golden Retriever

Well, that looks a little happier, anyway.

Dog of the Day: Labrador Retriever

Chocolate Labrador Retriever

Aww. Someone can smell lunch on my breath, and is disappointed that he didn't get a share.

Mmm… chocolate, my favorite.

Incidentally, if my posts are a little light for the next few weeks — maybe a bit fewer pictures than usual — I hope you’ll forgive me. I’m working on the sea otter fundraising project, and between that and work and DoSF and Autumn’s St. Patrick’s Day rush, I’m not sure I’m going to be sane in a month.

Chocolate Labrador Retriever

Someone looks a little droopy today. I wonder why?

Dog of the Day: Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Just a corgi, being goofy. I know, I know, redundant, right?

Pembroke Welsh Corgi

I could use a little fuzz therapy right now, and this is just the guy to provide it.

Dog of the Day: Serious Eurasier

Just a guess at the breed mix. Autumn and I are both a bit perplexed by this one. (Edit: Someone suggested that instead of a malamute/chow, this was a Eurasier. I took a quick look around, and I am convinced. What a gorgeous breed!)

However, he’s definitely very serious-looking, isn’t he? I think he’s concerned about the plight of the California sea otters. And perhaps he’s just a bit sad about the fact that because he’s a dog, he doesn’t file taxes in California, and thus can’t help them.

Maybe you do? And therefore, maybe you can help them for him? I promise, it’d cheer him up. (Expect to hear about this several more times in the coming few weeks, since I’m volunteering to help get the word out about the Sea Otter Tax Check-Off on this year’s California tax form. Please do visit the above site, and please do donate whatever you can when you do your taxes, if you live in California. And if you don’t, and you do live in the US, please let your Senators and Congresscritter know that you appreciate these animals, and that they should vote for the Southern Sea Otter Recovery and Research Act. The page above has all the details.)

Anyway… on to the dog!

Chow/Malamute Mix

Look at that fluff. This dog would be plenty warm for any three-dog night.

Chow/Malamute Mix

Lovely, soulful eyes.

Chow/Malamute Mix

Aww. Mom givin’ a little chest-skritch to her pup.

Chow/Malamute Mix

Oh my God what a ridiculous tail.

Dog of the Day: Bulldog

Bulldog

I love the puzzled expression. Then again, bulldogs always look puzzled.

Dog of the Day: Australian Shepherd

Been a while since we’ve had an awesome Aussie.

Australian Shepherd

A very alert and noble expression.

Australian Shepherd

Didn't take long to get a grin out of this pup, though.

Australian Shepherd

Happiness is apparently a latte in one hand an an Aussie in the other.

Dog of the Day: Jasmine the Labrador Retriever Puppy

As much as I hate to sound like the stereotypical idiot, hey! It turns out there really is more to photography than having a good camera. I got a bunch of pictures of this gal, mostly interacting adorably with other dogs. But those dogs were really light colors, and she’s super-dark, and I ended up with some decent pictures of other dogs plus one vaguely dog-shaped blotch of utter darkness. I have included one below, both for illustrative purposes and because the expression on the other dog’s face is pretty funny.

Black Labrador Retriever Puppy and White German Shepherd Mix Friend

I'd be singing "Ebony and Ivory" here, except for the slightly freaked out expression on the white dog's face.

Labrador Retriever Puppy

Every few seconds the pup would run back to dad to make sure he was still there. Adorable.

Black Lab Puppy

She's still lap-sized. Not that Labs ever stop trying to crawl into your lap.

Dog of the Day: Bernese Mountain Dog/Golden Retriever Mix

Can you believe that this guy is the same breed mix as this guy is?

Bernese Mountain Dog/Golden Retriever Mix

They do have a few things in common: they're both big, they both have floppy ears, they both love everybody.

Half Bernese Mountain Dog, Half Golden Retriever

But Mulligan didn't have 'toehawks': the big fluffy tufts of fur that come from between a golden retriever's toes. Ridiculous.

Bernese Mountain Dog/Golden Retriever Mix

Another thing they have in common: they're very photogenic...

Bernese Mountain Dog/Golden Retriever Mix

...and they're both total hams.

Dog of the Day: Max the Pomeranian

I ran into this Pom the other day, and then again, I think, today. I think. There can’t be that many 14-year-old Pomeranians with puppy cuts in South Beach, can there?

Pomeranian

You would never guess that he was 14, would you?

Pomeranian

I used to think puppy cuts were cheating. Now that I'm getting older, I just wish there were such a thing for humans.

Pomeranian

His attitude helps too. He's not a 'run-around-yapping' puppy, but he's super friendly.

Pomeranian

He's also very curious.
