WARNING: Dogs of SF may be down for a couple days

Autumn and I are moving, and getting the phone service moved to the new place, with DSL intact, is proving to be… well, not a hassle exactly. I asked for it, and they seem to just be doing it. But it is unclear exactly when the phone service will start up in the new place (though I know exactly when it will stop in the old place: July second, before 5 PM), and after the new service starts, it’s also unclear when the DSL cutover will occur.

I am trying to make alternate arrangements to host my home server (where DoSF runs) in the meantime. If I can, then DoSF will be down for a few hours twice (moving there, moving back again), plus however long it takes the address www.dogsofsf.com to catch up with the new location. If I can’t, then DoSF might be down for as long as four or five days while we wait for the DSL cutover to occur.

In either case, I’ll get us back up and running as quickly as I can.

Dog of the Day: Basset Hound

Will wonders never cease? A not-very-droopy-at-all basset hound! (Another picture after the break.)

Not very droopy at all. And consequently not nearly as sad-looking as a normal basset hound, either.

Dog of the Day: Pomeranian

Another day, another Pom. This one’s a little goofier than usual, though.

Two more pictures after the break.

Pomeranian making faces. I can't tell if that's a yawn, a chirp, or a threat. Whatever it is, though, it's pretty goofy.

Dog of the Day: Labrador Retriever

Going to be some fairly minimal posts for a week or so, I think. Autumn and I are moving, and it’s sucking up a lot of attention and energy. I’m exhausted, and am SO ready for this to end: including lease negotiations, this has been going on for over two months now. Including apartment hunting, it’s been going on for over six months. Ugh. But at least we can FINALLY see the end…

So, a purposeful young black lab for you today.

Young black lab. Such a cutie, almost but not quite full grown. He walked kind of like he was on a tightrope.

Dog of the Day: American Pit Bull Terrier Puppy

Dare ya not to fall in love with pit bulls after seeing this guy. Three more pictures after the break: check them out, I promise they’re worth it.

I suppose it would be bad form to untie him and wander off with him, huh? Even if he is gazing longingly at me? (And at every other passer-by, of course.)

Dog of the Day: Greta the Golden Retriever/Toy Poodle Mix

Well, I would never have guessed, looking at her, that she was a toy poodle/golden. Maybe corgi/golden, dachshund/golden, or even basset/golden, but certainly not poodle. But I have to assume that the gentleman walking her knew what he was talking about, so poodle/golden it is.

And as a poodle/golden, that’s one damn smart dog. (In Stanley Coren’s The Intelligence of Dogs, which is at least a credible source, poodles are the second most intelligent, and goldens are fourth.) Given how much she seems to have inherited from her golden parent, I bet she’s a real sweetheart, too.

Two more pictures after the break.

Never seen a dog like her before. She looks just like a slightly shrunken golden retriever with really short legs.

Dog of the Day: Corgi Puppy!

As I may have mentioned before, Autumn and I have a weakness for corgis. Anything that looks as goofy-silly as a corgi does, and is as consistently happy as a corgi is, is something that I pretty much have to adopt as my mascot. And this gal was simply adorable, and silly, and so very happy.

Two more pictures, after the break.

Is it just me, or does this pup kind of look like she has glasses on on this picture?

Dog of the Day: Yellow Labrador Retriever

I may post too many Labradors. I’m sure I post too many golden retrieverss. In my defense, they’re both incredibly common, and for a damned good reason: they’re wonderful dogs.

A second picture, after the break.

This was the line for a brief ride that was set up in Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco: an urban zipline. The dog didn't go on it, but he did attempt to say hello to just about everyone who did.

Double Dog Day: Kelpie and Pit Bull

Twins separated slightly before conception? Who knows. But I love the oh-so-similar tongue-lolling look we have here, down to the identical angle their heads are pointing at. They’re very good friends, who see each other on a regular basis, I bet.

Watching the two of them wrestling when they went after the frisbee was great. Sadly, all of those pictures came out all blurry.

Dog of the Day: Border Collie

I feel like a quick trip to the beach this evening, and you all are the beneficiaries. Because you get to see this amazing dog, but you don’t have to smell the dog-wet-with-salt-water-for-two-hours smell.

Two more pictures after the break.

A quick saunter along the beach, with a pause to check out this highly interesting ... tree trunk. Or whatever it is.
