As large as yesterday’s giganto-malamute was, she wasn’t the biggest dog at the street fair. That title was claimed by this lovely gentleman.
I don’t recall what the red spot was but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t serious.
They are just giant teddy bears. Is there anyone who can see one of these guys and not want to hug him?
Autumn paged me a few days ago with ‘OMG TWO NEWFIES!!’ They’re the kind of dogs you do that with. Well, if you’re us, at least.
Another dog from the big dawg shebang a couple weeks ago. This gal (?) was a really good sport, and liked all the people and all the dogs that she ran into.
As I said, she was a very good sport.
Very cute pom, but he just wasn’t getting into the spirit of the whole ‘riding’ experience.
Things might have gone better if she had managed to turn around and give him a big smooch while he was back there.

Instead of my usual jogging and walking today, I took public transit for most of the way to and from work. (Back problems. Should, I am told, be back to normal in not too long.)
This turned out to be serendipitous, because who should I run into but Ein the Corgi on the Muni train? She was walking from person to person… every time someone stopped petting her, she would wait patiently for about 1.2 seconds, and then go on and solicit attention from someone else. Watching her little tail-nib waggling back and forth was utterly captivating.
It’s probably good that only one of my pictures came out, because I don’t have the energy for more than one picture today.
You can’t really see it, but Ein has the cutest little white mark line thingie on her nose. I totally recognized her instantly from it.
Jack had just had… ahem… a ‘certain operation’. The cone of shame does keep the dog from doing naughty things like pulling out all their stitches, but I think it also might give the dog time to come to terms with his loss more slowly, instead of, ah, discovering it all at once.
I kind of feel like they went a little overboard with the cone of shame on this one. It’s bigger than he is!

Surprise schnozz!
A friend of mine suggested this, and I guess I really ought to post it, since probably not every single person in the whole United States has seen it yet. And, well, if there’s any animal of the week in San Francisco this week, it’s surely the bat. Alas, I was not in a position to get any pictures, so you’ll have to settle for a couple of pilfered ones.
Yesterday, San Francisco turned into Gotham City, for the benefit of one 5-year-old boy and the Make A Wish Foundation. Miles Scott, a boy who had childhood leukemia (now in remission) wished to be ‘Batkid’, and boy, did he get his wish. He worked alongside a costumed caped crusader, thwarting, among other things a bank robbery (the Riddler) and a kidnapped San Francisco Giants mascot (the Penguin).
And I even took the afternoon off… and went stumbling through the crowds, not reading the news or anything like that and wondering why it was SO DAMN HARD TO GET ANYWHERE. When, if I’d just walked straight home from work, I could have seen Batkid saving a woman who was tied to the cable car tracks (okay… so that’s actually pretty hilarious, if you’ve ever ridden a cable car at 7 miles per hour) less than three blocks from my apartment. Dammit!
Anyway, it’s pretty nice to see the city coming together to do something like this. Can you imagine what kind of world it would be if everyone got their fondest wish, once in their lives?
So: Batkid, saving a woman on Russian Hill, three blocks from where I live.

It’s been a long week, and I feel like this:
Tell it like it is, pup.
Can’t believe I forgot to record this pup’s name. Autumn and I were eating at the outside tables of ‘Eastside West’, which is a bar with an absolutely lovely brunch menu in the Marina, and we got a little bit of love from a bunch of passing dogs. And I got all of their names but this one. I’m such a bad person.
Despite what I imply in my hovertext, Autumn and I were done eating. This pup wasn’t loving on our food, she was just saying hi to us.
This is the dog that left the latest noseprint on my camera lens. (Reminds me, I should clean that off.)
Oh, I love that expression. And also the slightly blurry (madly wagging) tail.

Autumn and I had a VERY good dog day on Sunday. I mean, like, we had to cut a couple of photo shoots of puppies short because we saw ANOTHER PUPPY. That never happens!
Milli (who has her own twitter feed) was the last one we ran across, and I think she more or less broke Autumn, who has been squealing at odd intervals ever since. She would have broken me too, except I had to take the pictures so I didn’t get to pet her as much.
Is she really an Irish setter? Well, that’s what mom says, anyway.

One of the costumed dogs at the doggie-block-party Autumn and I went to looked a little familiar. I think this is Moe! (Or should I say ‘King Moe’?)
I missed the costume contest part of the party, but there were still a few glorious ones around.
I couldn’t actually tell if Moe minded the costume or not. He was making no effort to shed it, but he does look maybe a little disgruntled.
