Ran into Blaze in Santa Cruz. He’s 7, and just a giant goofy cuddly hyper puppy. Flat-coats apparently lean in that direction, maybe even more than goldens.
Spotty dog tongues sometimes look a little gross. They smooch just like the regular kind though.
Blaze is ideally suited for the gamboling on the beaches of Santa Cruz. And since he lives right near one, I bet he does a lot of that.
Don’t get me wrong, I was happy to get some pictures of Yogi. But I would rather have snuck off with him, spent eight hours romping through all the dog parks in San Francisco, and then returned him (snoring gently) to his parents.
That may be the happiest, stoned-est dog I have ever seen in my life.
Well-trained pup. He knew ‘sit’ and actually stayed sat, even if he did lean far forward trying hard to give me a lick.

We’ve seen a Llewellyn setter once before here, but it’s been ages (and she looked a lot different!), so I didn’t even recognize this one when I saw him. They’re kind of like the compact version of a bigger setter.
Ranger was a little leery. I think he was a relatively recent rescue.
I am such a sucker for dogs with orange eyebrows.
Looks quite a bit different than our last Llewellyn setter.
I ran into this pup on the way home from work. His dad had just gotten to San Francisco after traveling for quite a while with his pup, and was starting a new job soon. A few days later, he called up Autumn’s dog-walking-and-pet-sitting business to see if she could take care of him while dad was at work. That didn’t end up working out, but I sure hope he found a good solution to the problem.
Danger! If you see this dog, do not approach too closely unless you want to be smooched mercilessly!
Another ‘teacup’ German shepherd. Max is 1.5 years old, and not four months as I would have suspected. It didn’t help that he acts a lot like a puppy, albeit a well-behaved one.
Almost looks like a German shepherd/pug mix in this picture!
Pack puppy. I love dogs that can carry around their own dog food.

I found a little friend on my rambles. I picked her up and put her on my shoulder and took her for a walk, and then, when I got back, returned her to her garden and went on my way. (Autumn’s not entirely fond of ladybugs, since her house was infested by thousands of a Japanese beetle that is similar in appearance but stinks! But I’m a big fan. They are so cheerful and pretty, and they eat aphids. How can you go wrong?)

Sophie is a wiggly little 7-month-old pup, but that’s not why 70 percent of the pictures of I took of her were so blurry that I couldn’t even tell they were of a dog. I had the misfortune to run into her in a shady area on a quite dim day. Curse the luck.
Sophie might have been the runt of the litter (she’s tiny even for a miniature Aussie), but you’d never know it from her ankle-seeking cuddle-happy demeanor.
Such a serious expression.
The allure of a mini-Aussie, as opposed to the full-sized one. This pup will stay just the right size for this kind of mind-meltingly cute behavior all her life.

Another breed that I never knew existed, although apparently ‘Bolt,’ from the Disney movie of the same name, was one. Blanc is only 5 months old, according to my notes, and is totally adorable according to my best judgement.
You can tell Blanc still has some filling out to do, but I doubt we’re going to see much more height.

I’ve run into this pup before, but it was evening and none of my pictures came out. I was so happy to see him again! I think you’ll agree that he is utterly awesome.

I am disappointed. I took some pictures yesterday that I totally wanted to post today, of the most adorable little shiba inu in a raincoat, as celebration of the first rain of the season in San Francisco. (It will probably get old for me soon enough, but for right now I was pretty happy about jogging to work in the rain.) But all of the pictures came out blurry, every single one, except one really gorgeous picture of my thumb.
I hope I run into her again, she was so cute, and she seemed to really like her raincoat. And she was super-friendly, too. Next time I’ll use the decent camera instead of trying it with my iPhone.
Anyway, instead, here’s Linus. According to his owner, Linus is a 4-year-old German wirehaired pointer mix. I dunno, I do detect a certain similarity.
